1999 gsx

Asked by Jan 26, 2016 at 10:09 PM about the 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX Turbo AWD

Question type: General

Hi, it's my first time to used a forum, and I
hope you guys can help me figure out what
is the prob of my eclipse.  Ok so here's the
prob, if you are driving in the city which the
only max speed is 50kph. But when I hit
the highway and the max speed is 80 to
110kph my car only runs to 100kph even I
step on the gas pedal the speed won't go
up higher than 100kph. And I feel bad for
the car. so before summer I wanted my car
to be ready. Thank you so much.

Have you done a tune up and filter change lately? Make sure and replace the fuel filter. Another possibility is that the catalytic converter is partially plugged up.

I'm with regrets on this, a partially plugged exhaust can do exactly what you are describing.

Thank you so much. Let say what if I bring it to Mitsubishi, are they going to charge me? Thank you

Also do you guys know how much am I going to spend? Thanks

If you take it to a dealer you bet they are going to charge you, dealer rates out here are hitting 150 bucks and hour and their part prices are almost double of what they should be. If you can't work on this yourself then find a good certified shop that has good reviews and go there. If you can do it yourself most parts stores have the tool that you need to do an exhaust system back pressure test. And everything you need to do a good tune up.

Thank you so much. I'll let you know after. Thanks again Gos Bless

Hi it's me again. I did what you guys told me. I also replace the alternator spark plug new change oil and new battery. And yeah my car runs fast now it won't stuck in 100kph but after one hour of driving it so I can observe my car, suddenly it's hard for the car to accelerate and my dashboard lights slowly losing the light my speedometer is not working my RPM starts to go up and down. I'm confused now any body knows what's is wrong with it? Thank you reply ASAP.
