93 mercury cougar won't start, just 1 click
My cougar won't start when I tried to turn it over I get 1 click we have tried to
jump it nothing we replace the solenoid does the same thing we took out the
starter had it checked they said everything was OK when we put it back in the
car started for a day and a half now its clicking again once again check the
starter once again it was fine and once again it has stopped working ??????
Make sure the engine is not hydrolocked from a blown head gasket. We had a 93 Cougar with the 3.8 V6 and one day it did exactly as you described. I continually hit the starter, click, click click and it finally started after bending the #3 connecting rod due to coolant in the #3 cylinder. This is unlikely what is wrong with your car, but it could happen. Check and make certain all the battery cables are clean and tight. Also try to start it in neutral instead of park.
Thank you!!! We'll keep working on it!!!
