Wondering if problem is the whole transmission or just something to do with it

Asked by Jan 19, 2013 at 09:33 PM about the 1999 Mercury Cougar 2 Dr V6 Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 99 Mercury Cougar. One day was driving it and heard a pop. The car will start but once you put it into drive or reverse it makes a bad grinding noise and wont move. Also, when towed home was able to push it into yard with it being in park.

Sounds like your looking at replacing the transmission.
