Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm looking at buying a 98 Ford escort. It
runs fine but needs a jump to start. It can't
start on its own. It has a new battery and
the alternator is good as it runs fine with
out the battery.  need help. The car is $500
is the fix easy?

Maybe the starter is binding somewhat and the extra amperage from the other car turns it faster? If its someone u know, can u take out and check starter?

Best Answer

It's not. I'll ask him. But I mean it turns over fine. Could that mean it's the starter

Is there anything else that could cause that

So if battery is good and cranks engine why the jump? What made u jump it in the 1st place? What are the conditions when u try start in without the jump?
