Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm looking at buying a 98 Ford escort. It
runs fine but needs a jump to start. It can't
start on its own. It has a new battery and
the alternator is good as it runs fine with
out the battery.  need help. The car is $500

Maybe the starter is binding somewhat and the extra amperage from the other car turns it faster? If its someone u know, can u take out and check starter?

It's not. I'll ask him. But I mean it turns over fine. Could that mean it's the starter
