How to replace main fuse 2008 Mazda 3

Asked by SummitDog Jun 06, 2020 at 06:23 PM about the 2008 Mazda MAZDA3 GS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Installed battery backwards, now won’t start.
Swapped around the starter and main relay
with heater relay, still nothing. Main starter
fuse is next, which is bolted to the positive
terminal. Just can’t seem to open the plastic
covering to access the fuse and disconnect it,
not sure what the trick is.

Anyone know how to open the plastic cover
cover to access/remove the main starter
external fuse?

Just got advice from a man in a Mazda parts department of a dealership: cut out the fuse and connect directly to the battery (disconnect the battery before you do this). The fuse is part of the wiring assembly and replacing that would simply cost too much.

P.S.: Forgot to add - that starter fuse is sealed, it's not meant to be opened up.
