Key fob for keyless entry on my 2000 Ford Explorer won't stay programmed to my car replaced the batteries and still won't stay programmed any suggestions
It is possible that the little KAM IC chip has failed so it has no memory. Only way to fix it is too replace the fob.
Is there anything else it may be cause both fobs are doing the same thing just unsure that the odds of both going out at same time is a rare coincidence
Now you say that it is both fobs, Not just one, could have used the information earlier. Is the vehicle having any other problems? Is the check engine light on? The reason I ask is cause the keyless entry is part of the main computer control system, you may have to take it to a dealer to have it reflashed. But you should check the fuses and make sure the KAM circuits fuse is good, it is located in the main power box under the hood, if the fuses check good then you can try doing a hard reset on the ECM, but if that don't work then it will have to go to the dealer if you want it to work right.
Thanks I will try this sorry I forgot to mention it was both fobs
If by chance it turns out the fobs arwe bad, you can get new ones for $5-6 on ebay. I have bought several for me and friends
