i have a 2000 ford explorer it wouldnt open at first now it want shut close
The rod from the handle to the lock is probably broken. Look at the slot on the door itself where it engages the striker on the pillar when the door is closed. It is a semi-circular device with an opening on one side. It moves upward when the door is closed to warp around the striker holding the door closed. When the handle is pulled it is allowed to move downward so the striker can disengage. My guess is the latch is in the up position preventing the striker from entering the mechanism to secure the door. You can push it up with your finger, but if you close the door, and the handle mechanism is broke, you will not be able to open it again.
