First check to make sure the gas cap is sealing properly, then check the purge valve, and line,s to the overflow vacume canister, near gas tank.

My 2006 Sonata was showing a small leak also and the light “check engine” was on. It was fixed by the best mechanic ROWLEYS in Windsor, CT. It was the fuel pump that has five connectors and one of them was burned (melted). So the Sonata was not getting gasoline once a while and was losing power on the road for a moment. Sometime I stopped for a minute, turned key, and it was fine. Sometime I could not start for 2 days. These issues were going in circles. Now my car is finally fixed with no issues. No more of this horrible light “check engine” on the board that was making me so frustrated. I hope this helps. Regards!
