Used 2024 Hyundai Sonata for Sale near Roanoke, VA
Hyundai continues to up the ante with its midsize sedan. Last redesigned for 2020, the Sonata is back in the spotlight again with a sporty update and an equipment refresh, both designed to offer a compelling alternative to mainstays like the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry.
## What’s New for the 2024 Hyundai Sonata
Along with its smaller sibling, the Hyundai Elantra, the Sonata enjoys a significant refresh for 2024. It’s not just the new look, either: The model gets newsworthy changes inside, outside, and under the skin. Among the more notable is the introduction of all-wheel drive (AWD) to the Sonata lineup.
## Design
For 2024, the Sonata takes on a sleeker character than we’ve seen before. The “seamless horizon lamp” up front seems to take a page from the Genesis playbook, with the narrow, horizontally connected daytime running lights (DRLs) extending the width of the grille and giving the Sonata a dose of family resemblance with its corporate cousins. The new front fascia, with its larger air intake, appears simultaneously more upscale and more aggressive than that of the previous Sonata.
Spanning the rear end is a single wide, “H”-shaped taillight which emphasizes the width and stance of the vehicle. The new Sonata sports a new twin-tip muffler, and it belies the front end’s more sedate, Genesis-inspired DRLs with a trunk lid finished by a black spoiler.
## Powertrain
As it was for the prior model year’s, the base engine for the 2024 Sonata is a 2.5-liter, with a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine coming standard on the N-Line trim. As of this writing, Hyundai publications make no mention of the torquier 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder previously found in the SEL Plus and Limited trims. But, for the first time ever, Sonata buyers now have the option to get Hyundai’s HTRAC AWD system, which will be available with the 2.5-liter engine.
## Interior
Carrying the sportier design direction into the cabin, Hyundai gives the 2024 Sonata a three-spoke aluminum steering wheel. The new curved display combines with the ambient lighting to lend a futuristic sense more in line with the Ioniq 5 than a run-of-the-mill family sedan.
There are three interior color options for 2024. Buyers can opt for black or choose one of the two two-tone combos: dark gray and “greige” or dark gray and camel. In keeping with its status as the sportiest trim, the 2024 Elantra N-Line is furnished with red air vent accents and red stitching in the upholstery.
## Technology
The single curved display panel that now spans two thirds of the Sonata’s dash comprises two 12.3-inch screens one for the driver-information cluster and one for infotainment and navigation. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are newly available on every Sonata trim for 2024. “Continuous” over-the-air (OTA) updates are offered to keep the Sonata’s software up to snuff.
## Safety
Hyundai doesn’t skimp on its safety offerings, generally preferring to make driver-assistance features standard rather than package them as upgrades. The Sonata gets standard forward collision-avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance, blind-spot collision assist, safe-exit warning, safe-exit assist, lane-keeping and lane-following assist, and adaptive cruise control. Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control and Hyundai’s semi-autonomous Highway Driving Assist system are both available.
## Pricing
The 2024 Hyundai Sonata is scheduled to go on sale in the US market this coming winter. Pricing information is not available as of this writing, but we expect to see only minor increases and are confident that base MSRP will stay well under $30,000 for the entry-level Sonata SE. The premium for AWD, as a new feature for the Sonata lineup, remains to be seen.
4.5 Overall rating
(2 reviews)The 2024 Hyundai Sonata SEL is great for its value. It has a lot of good safety features that are standard. The missing features are a more customizable gauge being that the screen is digital. The center of the garage clusters are changeable & offer good information. This is common with most full screen dashboards. The infotainment screen in the center is large. I believe this helps make the car features user friendly. Everything is straight forward. The overall ride is smooth. I would say on par with the Honda Accord. The Sonata’s 8 speed automatic transmission shifts are smooth & is not noticeable.
Very nice on the inside. A lot of features for the money.
