Car will crank but not start

Asked by GuruXW58D Oct 10, 2018 at 11:30 AM about the 1996 Honda Accord LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello I have a 96 honda accord and for the past 2
weeks I have been having issues with my car not
starting. The only way we could get it to start is
with putting fuel through this big hose that was
connected somewhere around the sparkplugs. (I
apologize I don't know much about cars) I thought
it was the fuel filter which I got it changed and it
still will not start. It's starts and runs fine for half
Of  the day then later on it won't start and I have to
put fuel through that one hose. And I have noticed
also that my gas idle has been going up and down.
I'm planning to take it somewhere to put the
machine/tester on the car  hopefully it will tell me
what it could be.  In the mean time any
suggestions on what could be causing this will be
highly appreciated.
Thank you

My problem was simply a security/computer problem. A lockup was telling the car not to crank. It needs a new key programmed so it won't happen again. The fix was just to unplug battery. Hook connections together and wait a half hour. Then reconnect them to the battery. Just because a car isn't getting gas all the way through, doesn't mean something is clogged or cracked etc.
