My 2002 Passat 18T Automatic won't start.
Enginge turns until it eventually floods, but still won't start. All fuses were checked; all 100%. Can it be a relay problem? Sensor? Spark issue? A faulty key was also mentioned. ????.
At this point it sounds like a spark issue, need to know if getting spark, coil, wires, plugs I would check first, then there is a Ignition control module to be checked. A few things to check, Need to know if there is spark.
Thank you for your reply & advise. Will check for spark etc. as suggested. Will ask my dad for help; I don't know anything about cars. Had to replace the cracked Breath/Vent Hose last week by myself; took me two hours to remove and replace it. Embarrassing! Lol!
Thats ok, so just so you know this is a process of elimination. Diagnostics I call it. If you can get a hold of a code scanner, analyzer to see if there are any codes, this points you into a direction of a fix. Otherwise it is done the old fashion way.
Had to have my vehicle towed to a VW Auto Electrician. Vehicle spark and fuel supply was checked/tested. Fuel pump circuit was traced. Diagnosed 'open circuit in the Multi Connector' as the problem. Repaired/replaced; Passat starting problem history! Happy to have my baby back!
Great to hear! Thanks for posting...
Only a pleasure. Hope the info will be helpful in the future. Most definitely in my case! I'm the worst 'mechanic' on earth! Lol!
