Water leak on brand new 2016 Passat??

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I purchased my vehicle on Monday, two days ago. Today, it had
condensation on the windshield when I started it to go to work. Ok, not out
of the ordinary for this time of year. Ran the wipers, condensation came off.
However, it reappeared almost immediately, but only on the driver side,
and only on the outside of the windshield. Ran the defrost both hot and
cold, no luck. Had to run the wipers intermittently for a good 40 minutes
into my trip. Finally, disappeared, except there was still condensation
underneath where the wipers go. Nothing on the passenger side at all. The
condensation appeared where the wipers a go a bit in the last 20 minutes
of my commute. The condensation under where the wipers go was STILL
there when I pulled into my parking spot after an hour commute! Now I'm
really concerned that I bought a defective vehicle with water inside it. Have
service appointment for Friday. Thoughts?

Here's some thoughts- let the service department look at it and then you'll know more- maybe just a breaking in period- but let me say this- I question the wisdom of buying a new VW right now (or ever again) with the dirty tricks they have been pulling, diesel or not- why contribute to the crooks? there's a lot of other brands out there-

Get it back to the dealer, you have your 30 day 'change-your-mind' period (assuming your in the US) this gives you a lot of leverage with the dealer. complain and let them rectify the issue.

I have the same. The air intake takes in water from the windshield which leads into the air system of the cabin. A big rain had the passenger side full with water under the floor. Check if the floor under the passenger side is wet. You might have a similar issue.
