How do I remove the radio from my 2000 Odyssey LX? It has stopped working and I need to troubleshoot. I already tried the fuse, which worked for our CD changer, but the radio is still out.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have the standard AM/FM radio with cassette for the Odyssey LX.  My wife reported that the radio stopped working all of a sudden - no power, nothing.  I switched out the fuse for the radio and the CD changer lit up.  Also, the tape in the tape deck ejected, but still no regular power.  How do I remove the radio to troubleshoot it?

Hello Bountiful6-- My favorite online site for car stereos is www.crutchfield.com. They have installation guides available that I am sure will help you remove the radio from your 2000 Honda Odyssey. If you need further information, use the toll-free number listed and you will get a live voice eager to help you. For the directions go to-- http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/S-tC1zVBbuwdg/learningcenter/car/car_stereo/installation_guide.html?page=2. Good luck from Bovan.

I HAD THE SAME ISSUE--HERE'S THE FIX... Check the "ACC" fuse and NOT the "RADIO" fuse! If it's burned (and I bet it will be), get a replacement fuse. Usually a replacement is already sitting inside of the Fuse box under the hood. If not, go to an auto parts store...they're like $3.50 for a 5-pack of fuses. No need to replace an entire radio if the fuse was at fault. Also check to see if your lighter works.
