I replaced the motor and all rollers on my automatic passenger slide door of a 2005 Honda Odyssey. Of course, as the warranty period expired the door only powers intermittently. I have figured out that it's when my battery dies and I need a jump. Yesterday my car got jumped so the door worked only until my son pulled the outside handle. Now it's out again??? It seems this is some kind of code circuit issue. The shop is $80 just to look at it. Help.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had the passenger power slide door motor and rollers replaced on my 05 Honda
Odyssey.  Of course after the warranty expired the door started failing intermittently.  It
seems that when my battery dies the door starts working after the car is jumped.
Yesterday this was the case, but it stopped again after my son used the outside handle.
Now it's out again??? This seems like a code issue, but my shop is $80 just to look at it.
HELP, I have 6 little ones to drop off at school.

it is an odd coincidence that the jumping battery thing is going on. Have the battery load tested and have the alternator tested. not enough power to motors and circuits can do weird things.

NOT an odd coincidence - my 2005 Odyssey is doing the EXACT same thing! I came out of the grocery store to a dead battery. My passenger side slide door has been out of commission, with the slide door dash light on, for at least a year. I had someone give the van a jump, and the dash light turned off and the door began working again for a couple of days. Then it just stopped again. I also noticed that when the main switch is turned to OFF for the power slide doors, the driver's side passenger door still AUTOMATICALLY/ELECTRONICALLY latches the door to its final closed position when manually closed. However, the passenger side door does not auto latch when manually closed - we have to push the back of the door into latched position because there is absolutely no power going to the passenger slide door, leading me to believe there is some sort of short in the wiring. But if there was a short, why would jumping the battery temporarily correct the short? I don't think it would, and unfortunately I don't have the answer. I'm hoping that by adding more information to the initial problem, someone with knowledge will be able to connect the dots and FINALLY figure out the problem. I KNOW it must be electrical, not mechanical.
