2016 Mini Cooper S top engine mount rubber cracked

Asked by Mini2016s4d Oct 05, 2020 at 01:41 PM about the 2016 MINI Cooper S 4-Door Hatchback FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2016 mini just came out of warranty on
6/2020 it has 35k miles. Last service @ mini
dealership was on 1/2020, driven 2k since the last
visit. The car wouldnt start, so was towed to same
delearship. They found original battery has dead
cells and needs replacement($325) and top
engine mount rubber is cracked ($1200)! Is this
normal at 35k? How does this crack? I find is
suspicious that it wasnt there in jan, but it there
now. I do must of my driving on highway, so it isnt
that Im driving thru potholes either...Any advice is
welcome.

I’ve got the same motor Mount issue. Same year car, 54000 miles. I’ve got a local mechanic here that is a BMW/Mini specialist. He quoted me just over $800 for that job. BTW, $325 for a battery is crazy!

I have just had the same problem with my 2014 Mini Cooper S which has done less than 30K. Cost me AU$1160 to fix, one year out of warranty. Mine is on the driver's side. They said they have seen a few, always on the driver's side and that the replacement ones have been modified (don't know how)

Same thing here! 2016 mini clubman S. Less than 40,000 miles. Cracked engine mound. $1300 repair cost. In my humble opinion, that should not be happening with a quality car! What would be the recourse?

My husband just ran into the exact same problem with his car which is the same model and Year. Clubman s 2016 with just over 41,000 miles. Ridiculous! I wonder how many others are having the exact same issue?

Mine is a 2017 Mini Cooper S. Routine maintenance visit. Dealer service guy said lower engine mount collapsed probably due to wear and tear!! No accidents et al. Barely driven 10,000 miles on it. How the heck does this happen??

mine just had all three replaced at 36K miles go figure fortunately I had extended warranty

Had the same issue with our 2016 Mini Cooper 4 door sport with only 40,000 miles. Mini quoted 1600 to replace and a local shop did it with all Mini parts for $660. The part was $284 and it was a couple hours of labor. Disappointed that such a key mount failed so early on.

Mine too! 2017 Mini Cooper Clubman - seems like this should be a safety recall thing if it is happening this often at 50-60K miles...

Same here - 2016 clubman JWC Sport model - it is 6 years old with 62K miles, but was shocked at the $1400 Cincinnati MINI dealer estimate. Looking for a local shop with BMW experience to fix it.

2014 Cooper S - 47,000 miles. Not driven aggressively. Same thing. Ridiculous.

Happened to me now - at 59k miles - not an agressive driver - charged $1,800 Mini Cooper Countryman - very disappointed in Mini

Just had the top mount replaced on a 2016 1.5 litre Clubman auto with 48,000kms on it. Cost $1,350 at Mini Dealer. Front discs and pads also needed replacing so $2,300 AUD all up. This is getting to be an expensive car. Tires replaced for third time last month. Seems these cars chew through tires, brakes and now engine mounts.

I'm in Seattle. I was hearing more road noise than normal so took my 2015 4-Door Mini with 38K miles in to the dealer to see what's up. You can probably guess. Upper engine mount found ruptured/leaking 1 hr initial diagnostics: $225 Replace upper engine mount: $1700 + Tax Seriously reconsidering whether owning a Mini is worth it.

2018 Mini Cooper well maintained with 50k. I started hearing more road noise so when I went in to change my break pads I asked the dealer to take a look at the car. You can guess: Engine mount cracked and timing belt cover issue
