Need snow tires for my 2015 Toyota Highlander Limited
I have 245/55R19 tires on the vehicle now but need snow tires. Toyota says that I can use 18 inch tires but they are very expensive. They also say that I must buy the 18 inch alloy rims as they do not com in standard black ($$$). A reputable local tire dealer is selling a winter tire package for Toyotas and for the Highlander, they say I can use 17 inch tires. Is this true.
In order to use smaller tires u need to use the smaller rims as well and vice versa
I'd recommend the 18", you can get a wheel/tire package for around $1300 from tirerack. Just install them yourself when they are shipped to you. If your local tire dealer is selling the 17" size and say they work who am I to say no?
If you live in an area where there is snow and ice all the time consider a Finnish tire such as Nokian as they are the best in extreme conditions. Change them out when the weather turns warm though as they will wear out really fast on dry, warm roads.
