UPgrading headlights on 2015 OUtback

Asked by Aj Jan 25, 2019 at 08:18 PM about the 2015 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium

Question type: Car Customization

I love my new Subaru but I need to upgrade my headlights on 2015 Outback
Premium 2.5i because of difficult seeing at night.  I think they are Halogen now.
(Headlight case says H11  HB3.) I've seen the GTR Lighting Ultra Gen 3 and
SuperNova v.3 LEDs recommended but there are a ton of others. Anyone know
of a good set of LEDs? Thanks

Go on amazon and search SPE 4 sided LED h11 lights. I have them in my 2015 outback, my 2006 Legacy GT, my 2013 Nissan Sentra, and my 2009 STI. They have a great warranty and are the only ones I’ve found that don’t mess with the electrical system in Subaru’s. They have fans on them and easy to install. Here’s a link SPE 4-Sided LED Headlight Bulbs - H11 (H8, H9, H16) - 80W 8000LM 6000K Cool White Bulb - Direct Replacements, IP67 Waterproof - 2 Year Warranty https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BFP7VVJ/ref=cm _sw_r_cp_api_i_utLtCb4ZYJKXF

I curious as to what electrical problems you ran into with other bulbs? I was hoping for a little more lm. The one I was looking at was HIKARI LED Headlight Bulbs Conversion Kit- H11(H8,H9), 2019 New Gen of HIKARI, Adjustable Beam, 9600lm 6K Cool White,2 Yr Warranty by HIKARIThey worked great in a friend's Toyota Camry. Is Subaru more difficult to upgrade? Thanks!

I’ve seen where some of the aftermarket kits have too much amperage trying to be pushed through the ground and have damaged the BIU. This is very rare but have see it. Adding a direct to chassis ground wire from the ground wire of the headlight connector can prevent this issue.

i had brake light led (philips) and they worked fine for a few days until... i pressed the brake and everything lit up like a Christmas tree on my dash (ABS, EBD, oil temp, etc, etc). Everything went back to normal after switching back to stock bulbs.
