Where to start on likely seized motor

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Driving home from work, oil pressure gauge went down,
pulled over with in 50 ft, turned it off. I then discovered oil
cooler line popped at factory crimp, oil all over the place,
got it towed home. A few days later went to check it out,
would not turn over, put breaker bar on crank, no rotation..
where should I start. Thinkn either crank bearing seized,
piston to head seized or both. What say you?

Remove all the spark plugs. Then try to turn the engine by hand. If you can then turn the engine, it's not seized. With the spark plugs out of the engine there's no compression so the engine should turn freely. You can also remove the serpentine belt or belts to be sure that none of the accessories, like the alternator, air conditioning compressor, etc. are not seized and creating resistance as you turn the engine by hand. Hope that helps! Jim

Valid point. Thanks for the opinion, ill give it a try tomorrow night and see what happens.. I'm thinkn on trying that first, if nothing I'm gonna pull the oil pan and see what I find down there i.e bearings spun, broke connecting rod, maybe even which piston if any is stuck.. Thanks again Jim
