99 Yukon will not start on occasion
Not every time but I'll try starting vehicle & nothing. I pop
the hood check battery connection. I'll loosen then tighten
the connection. When I tight the black connection the door
locks engage(learned the hard way keep door open). And
once I hear that I know it will start but it will die if I'm not
giving it gas. When it runs for a few minutes it drives just
fine. Back history, the battery is new only a few months old.
Also I replaced the bolts that connect the cables to battery.
My dad had southern engineered them with some type of
threading glue to keep them secure. But never had this
problem until now. Any help greatly appreciated!!
yes well 7 years is enough time for a tin/antimony battery, so just have it changed out where ever is most convenient for you, the "glue" will dissolve with contact cleaner, and perhaps you may need a new set of cables anyways~
A voltage drop test across your battery cables will tell you if they are defective, if you move them around while checking them it can help look for intermittent opens. Stalling while running may be a separate issue, namely a problem with the idle air control valve or circuit.
