Reading of 32 volts where?

I had this outfit install a backup camera. The camera ended up failing or I should say the monitor and the manufacturer gave me a new system. When I was reinstalling I checked the wires which the installer used under the dash (just left of the steering wheel). On the camera harness one wire was to the power the other wire to reverse. The power wire read 12 volts and the reverse wire read 32 volts. I'm wondering if they use the wrong wire for the reverse function on the back up camera system and if 32 volts cause damage to the system. Any input is greatly appreciated

I am skeptical about finding any wiring in that vehicle that would have 32 volts on it.
