my 2004 Envoy XUV will not shift out of park. The shift lever moves very freely as no engagement, when I move the lever nothing happens.

Hi there! You can use zip ties as a quick fix here, but it's your plastic linkage bushing. Dorman Help section in the autoparts store, part # #14055
