I have a 2012 Dodge Journey mushy breaks when hot and when I take the master cylinder fluid fill cap off it releases pressure

It's a bad master cylinder or a cracked line when you touch the brakes which is putting air into the brake lines which would also make the brakes crappy

Why would there be pressure when i take the cap off to check the fluid level
