About 2020 Dodge Journey
For 2020, the midsize Dodge Journey benefits from moderate changes and a simplified lineup. Both Journey trims, the SE Value and Crossroad, include seating for 7 passengers, keyless access and start, and a 4.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Premium cloth seating is standard, as is an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice commands, satellite radio, and Bluetooth connectivity. Additional standard equipment includes a power driver’s seat, tri-zone climate control, navigation, a premium audio system, LED taillights, a security alarm, remote start, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel are all available. Last year’s V6 option was shown the door for 2020, leaving just the 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder engine. It develops 172 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque and partners with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Unfortunately, the disappearance of the V6 also removes the Journey’s all-wheel-drive (AWD) capability, so all models come exclusively with front-wheel drive (FWD). That said, fuel economy is the same as last year with the 4-cylinder: 19 mpg city, 25 highway, and 21 combined. Safety-wise, every Journey comes with a full set of airbags and a reversing camera. But that’s where the technology ends: there’s no crash-avoidance technology, blind-spot monitoring, or adaptive cruise control. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) wasn’t exactly enamored with it either, awarding it poor marks for small overlap crash safety and headlights back in 2019. The Dodge Journey represents a unique value proposition. But if you’re looking for a more current vehicle, we recommend waiting for a redesign.
