Cam Follower / Lifters in valve

Just bought a retired sheriff patrol 01 crown vic it makes a
knock more like tick but I'm sure it will become a knock i
believe it's a cam follower/Lifter how hard would it be to
adjust or replace more how much would a mechanics cost
to adjust or replace
