1987 dodge dakota turning lights

what can be wrong with the turning lights when both the front turning light do not work at
all but both of the back turning lights work fine?

If the turn signals flash fast then you have an open circuit somewhere from the turn signal switch to the front turn lamps, if the turn signals flash normally then the turn signal switch has lost the entire front portion inside the switch itself, sometimes a partually engaged 4 way switch can cause this condition, try cycling the 4 ways a few times and see if that clears up your problem.
