How to usr 4x4 and low

Asked by Aug 24, 2019 at 08:38 PM about the 1989 Ford Ranger XLT Extended Cab 4WD SB

Question type: General

I own a manual89 ford ranger xlt, and I'm not sure
how to use the 4x4. It has a button on the dash, not
a shifter. Do I stop before using it, can I shift while
using it? What speed can I go to? Any advice helps

You should come to a complete stop, shift into neutral, then press the button to switch into 4 wheel drive. You should follow that procedure each time you want to change the settings of the 4 wheel drive system. Hope that helps! Jim
