Did repairing leak in the brake booster line or replacing brake booster line fix the gas mileage and hissing sound on Bamacatfish's 86 ford ranger back in 2014 ?
ix vacuum leak

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 1986 ford ranger wit an apparent vacuum leak. I started hearing a
slight hiss from inside the cab over time the hiss got louder and the engine
started to run a little rough. I also noticed a decline in fuel mileage. While the
engine is idling, the hissing will stop when the brake pedal is depressed and
the engine idle will slow slightly. I held a cigarette close to where the rod
attached to the brake pedal goes through the fire wall and the smoke was
drawn through the hole. Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.

leak in the brake booster line
vacuum hose/power booster hose or bad power booster diaphragm !
still have a hissing sound coming from somewhere else not near the brake vacuum booster line and still hisses when i disconnect line, held my thumb over it while starting and stoping engine..... still hissing when start and stop engine, sounds like breathing/sucking air through a tracheotomy tube if you have ever heard that sound........
