Engine surging

5 Answers

Bad fuel is the first thing that comes up, I use to race these little engines and fuel was always a concern. Possible shutter valve malfunction, Carburator messed up, if California emission possible EGR valve solenoid or the valve itself, make sure the leading and trailing ignition systems are working properly, possible rotor seal failure on one flat of the rotor itself.

13B? 2nd GEN.. connect a vacuum gauge make sure there are no vacuum leaks.

Your right Auto, I was thinking a Carbed engine not injected. A vacuum leak will cause engine surge, found a few with leaking intake gaskets.

tennisshoes, I'm sure if you raced them your more knowledgeable on them.

Didn't go with the 13B's stayed with the 12's and Holley carbs so all of that emission stuff was tossed, but I did keep a couple of RX7's around for a while just for rallies.
