How to reset oil gauge after changing sensor it still reads low on 1987 allante

Not sure if this will work on the year model but try. Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine). Press the range button until the OIL LIFE INDEX is displayed. Press and hold the AVERAGE SPEED and RANGE buttons until the display resets to 100. Turn the ignition to off and start engine to verify the indicator has been reset. If it does not rest try once more I know it works on 1989.
