What could be the cause of my 89 Honda prelude with a carburetor stalling when starting cold? It won't stay on if I dnt keep my foot on the gas for 30 seconds or so!!!!!

I know this car with a carb doesn't have a
Fuel pressure regulator so could be an air
leak somewhere or what!!! Help anyone!!!!

Choke inoperative is where I would go first, it will only get worse the colder it gets.
