Connector going to fuel sending unit may have a loose wire that goes to gauge. If you can reach connector to fuel sending unit ( may have to drop tank slightly to reach connector ) turn key to on position have someone look at gauge then wiggle and giggle the connector and see if it starts to work if so replace connector or repair if possible. Also remove connector and look at the pins inside making sure none is bent causing no connection.
