2003 engine in a 1997 neon tries to start but acts like firing on bottom of intake stroke. has original pcm and the crank sensor is on the left side whereas the 97 is on the right side of the engine

Asked by Jul 19, 2017 at 10:08 PM about the 1997 Dodge Neon 4 Dr Sport Sedan

Question type: Car Customization

I bought an engine for replacement of a 97 neon the engine is i''m guessing
a 2003-2005 when I tried to start it it acted like the timing was off but
verified correct. Cam and crank wiring is good but is misfiring acts like firing
at bottom of compression stroke. Tries to run but goes blup blup every
other stroke. Any ideas would be helpful. Hopefully they didn't change the
cam firing order. Been too long dont remember'. Old guy syndrome
