006 Honda Odyssey EXL-DVD model (How i can know timing belt need to change or not)
I purchased 2006 Honda Odyssey EXL-DVD model with 179000 km and now it is 184000 km. My question is how I can know Timing belt need to change or not. Van having now problem running smooth, no noise but still I just wanna know the timing belt life or if need to change so that I can go to garage to change the belt. Please tell me how I can know myself.
The cambelt should be replaced at regular intervals according to mileage- and with high mileage cars like yours the intervals should be shorter because the belt drive wheels are wearing and will wear the belt out faster- so it is critical, you MUST know when was the last time the belt was changed? If you don't know this, you should just plan on changing it ASAP- you should put a new water pump on while you're at it, and check to see if those wheels need changing- they probably do-
It's WELL PAST time. Honda says 105,000 miles but 7 years, whatever comes first. Your 2006 was probably built in 2005 so it's got 10 years on it. So mileage is 115,000 too -- change it now -- it's an interference engine also, if it breaks you will be have major engine damage. But if you don't have service records, if it was ever changed at a Honda Dealer there will be e record of it that any Honda dealer an fetch from your VIN
