Do I need to replace my fuel injectors?

Asked by PWRPLAY99 May 04, 2020 at 09:02 AM about the 1997 Chrysler Sebring JXi Convertible FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1997 Chrysler Sebring JXi 2.5L hesitates when accelerating and runs rough
at idle. Adding a can of Sea Foam to each tankful of gas greatly cuts down on
this happening. ArchOil Fuel system treatment also works well- but the problem
returns without these additives. I've had the fuel injectors (original to the car) cleaned but
it didn't seem to help- should I replace them?  possible other sources of the problem?

How many miles on your car? I would do as Ed says but you may also want to try Techron fuel additive which is the best in my opinion.

Just circling back, I wasn't able to get the parts stores to check for trouble codes (they've suspended this service temporarily due to Covid19). I bought a scanner from Harbor Freight and it did not detect any trouble codes. I decided to replace the throttle position sensor, idle air control valve, and MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor (turns out this car does not have a mass air flow sensor). I also cleaned the throttle body and replaced the air filter. Happy to report the car is once again running smoothly. Most likely the culprit was the MAP sensor- it was partially fried when I removed it. Thanks for all your help!
