why is my car idling rough still after cleaning all the sensors and changing plugs, wires and everything else there is on this engine?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Got a 1999 sebring conv with the 2.5L 6cyl. It has a distributor, not coil packs. It misses or skips at idle only. Other than idle, it runs like a new car. I've cleaned carbon out of the upper intake, throttle body, iac valve, and everywhere else I could find any carbon. Changed plugs, wires, distributor, map sensor, iac valve, did the timing belt/water pump today and none of this has stopped the bumping at idle. It accelerates perfect, slows down perfect with no skipping/missing/bumoing action, it starts up from cold perfect, it just idles hard and the idle is low, its at 6 to 650 instead the 750 it used to stay at. this is perplexing st this point. It runs perfect so I still drive it, it just idles not so great. I also sprayed little water around the upper intake and nnothing, no sounds and didnt see anything. Thanks for any guidance at this point!

Sounds like you covered alot already, Im sure you readjusted the idle. The only other thing I can think of would be timing related, I would check the timing to make sure its set properly also if the belt is off a tooth or streching if its a chain also the guides or tensioners. I would also check the Sebring forums to see if anyone else has had this issue. Good Luck
