2001 with a v6- starts right up, but runs very rough, spits and sputters, no power brakes, will not go faster than 2 mph. I do not have access to a vw scanner.

OK. How do I fix it? And why can't my scanner read any codes? BTW, when this first started, I did replace all the plugs.

Check your ccm under the carpet of driver seat....if it gets wet or the wire are bad it will cause all kinds of issues
