Alternator for 2006 Chrysler 300, 2.7L

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I've never changed the alternator, I'm going to have it checked today.
My battery light came on earlier this weekend..

In the event that it is the alternator (115k mi)
I'm trying to buy the part, to then have it installed.
What's the best place to find a list of alternators?
I've seen AC Delco, Ultima, which is best?
I don't want to buy something I'll later regret.

Appreciate your input!

I appreciate your prompt response Tom! Surely anything I find under my car's details will fit -- any recommendations on a reliable brand? I'm not 100% on mechanics, I have heard of AC Delco & Mopar. I had quoted the service on yourmechanic.com & they quoted me $362 for the Ultima(r) select found at Oreilly for $60 less, their charge of course.. Do I risk in buying a Mopar Reman myself? ..and having them do the labor. Thanks for your time.

So I had the battery and alternator tested, seems the battery is bad.

Is the light off with the new battery installed? Usually a battery light is a fault in the charging system, not the battery. What is the voltage across the battery terminals with the car running now? Should be around 14V. if not, your battery is draining slowly. Any brand will work for you. I stick with the name brand that come with a warranty. I've used ACDelco parts on my Fords in the past and not have had any issues

Hi Tom, I did not replace the battery yet. I went to Autozone, when testing the battery they said it was not fully charged. The battery was then charged. Then they tested the battery, determining that it was bad, due dropping charge almost immediately after charging. Later, I went to Advance Auto Parts where I'd purchased the battery, they ran a test, the results attached. They indicated that the alternator was "spiking". So, a week after the battery was charged and the battery light gone, it again turned on yesterday. Do you know anything about the alternator spikes?
