Have opportunity to buy 1985 BMW, 245,000 miles. Super clean inside. Few scratches outside. Last owner had it 13 years and has all maintenance history. Good deal or not?

How many miles do you drive a year?

about 8,000

$3850 and I would have to ask if the engine has been rebuilt.

Tom Demyan

That would put you at 285K. Has the engine or trans been rebuilt or replaced? Do you have money in the bank for repairs? How much are you getting it for? Condition?

These cars are expensive to maintain unless your doing the work.

If you really have your heart set on the car, here is some information to look through.........http://www.mye28.com/viewforum.php?f=9........The engine uses a timing belt. They need to be changed at 40,000 miles/4 years intervals, if not you could virtually destroy the engine within a moment's notice.

I have had my 91 318i for five years. It has well over 400,000 kms on it. Still running strong. Body is nothing to look at but mexhanically, have had no major issues. BMW engines are notoriously bullet proof if u take a little care.
