It it a good deal to buy a 2004 BMW 545i with 142K miles for 4,400 ?
Those car usually go for $8K, so sounds like a good deal to me. What does the car need or is it a salvage title? You would n't be asking if you were concerned, but probably figured out that BMW's maintenance items are usually more than other makes and models. You always have to put money into a used car to get it up to snuff and the way you'd like it. Have at least $1-2K extra to perform necessary maintenance, like brakes and tires. Plus the 545i v8 isn't all the great on mpg..
Sounds like a good price to me. The mileage really isn't that high. If it were an '03, I would think it's average, it's just being an E60 that it seems high. If you can maintain the car yourself, then it's a great deal.
I'd respectfully suggest that if you don't know the answer, it's probably not the car for you. Like others have said, it may be a good deal if you know how to repair the car yourself, or will use the money you saved to pay someone else to do so. At $4k, it certainly needs something.
