As it is an electrical part I doubt they will take it back, and somehow the car knows when the replacement part is there or not so it might work now but it will fail again at any moment. Just like my heater fan it quit working and didn't work until the day I got the replacement and it started working the very day I got a new one, but it quit 2 days later, so I replaced it then. So I'd replace it.
