I have a BMW 2002 330 XI and it overheated after I took it to the dealer I change the thermostat and put water in it but it's still overheated when I drove it for 15 minutes it makes a little quickisound and it throws white smoke I wonder if the engine or the head gasket is blown
The sound increases And the light
went all the way to read I couldn't
stop so I drove from another five
minutes or so
You seen white smoke,it wasn,t white smoke,It was humidity coming threw your exhaust, from head gasket or cracked head loosing water.
Most likely a head gasket at first but if you ran it that far you could have busted a head, either way it will have to be torn down too find out.
But you stated that you just came from the dealer and it overheated, makes me wonder if they didn't get all of the air out of the cooling system after thermostat replacement.
Why would you drive it when you knew the engine was hot? that is some super-expensive BMW iron that you were destroying- if you are lucky it is just a head gasket- but you are still looking at thousands of $$- next time just park the car and take a little walk-
