Warranty when buying a used Mini Clubman??
I am buying a 2010 Mini Clubman from a dealer this week. Should I buy the warranty with
it? Normally I don't go for these things but the manufacturer's warranty only lasts for
about another 10,000 miles on this car. Actually it might be sooner. It is a 2010 and the
warranty is 50,000/4 years. Not sure when the 4 years is up. I heard that these cars have
to have a new timing chain at 100,000 which doesn't make sense-why would you replace
a timing chain? Thanks......
The chain uses some plastic guides that need to be replaced, a wear item. I personally don't buy extended warranties. Save the money you would spend on the warranty and put it aside. Most extended warranties don't cover maintenance items like the timing chain.
