A/C not working and/or intermittent functionality

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey there! I've been having some issues with my A/C. When I'm driving and I turn the A/C on I will get a rush of lukewarm air from the driver side vent but from the passenger side it will blast cold, nice air. Now, I've been told numerous times it was the blender door actuator, checked two times and yes it's faulty. Tried removing the blender and kept the door stuck in full cold but it yields the same results.

Now, the weird thing is that when I turn on the rear passenger aircon I can feel a discernible difference in the air being pushed out of the vent. It is slightly colder and this gradually gets colder whilst the vehicle is kept at speed. But right now, my A/C doesn't blow cold air in both the driver side (blowing hot air, blender door still stuck in full cold) & the passenger side (coming out lukewarm).

To add insult to injury, now the A/C makes a hissing noise whenever the compressor engages, the hissing noise immediately goes away once the compressor clutch disengages. I think the source of the hiss comes out from below the glovebox compartment but I could be wrong.

What do you guys think the issue is? I honestly don't want to think I have a leak lurking around some well hidden place. Think a simple recharge will pull me out of this summer in the meantime?

For your time and consideration, thank you!

The selector switch not only switches current but also directs vacuum to the vents ,, you may find the ports that direct the vacuum have lost a good seal (happens when the tiny O rings get brittle from age/heat)

I've had problems with the lines losing vacuum, usually this problem presents itself when there's low vacuum in the engine (high rpm). The air goes through nicely from the front vents and I don't notice air coming out of the defroster vents for the windshield. Could there be another purpose for the vacuum besides controlling the blend doors? I might add, when I said about the blender door actuator I meant about the temperature door servo. I've checked it twice, still full open for cold.
