I had a tune up and oil change today and when driving home my abs light began flashing and I spelt some burning under the hood. Could they have knock something lose.

The oil burning smell is typical as the oil when replacing the oil filter gets onto the exhaust. As far as the ABS light being on, it is usually a faulty wheel sensor or wiring that cause it to light up. Might be coincidence. Take it back to the garage and see if they can check their work.
