09 Jeep liberty stuck in 4 low, saying ESP off, and showing traction control light all while constantly jerking

Asked by GuruBF78W Jan 21, 2019 at 06:42 PM about the 2009 Jeep Liberty Sport 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello I live in Wisconsin and it snowed a lot recently and has been in the
single digits, anyway im not sure if this has any thing to do with the way my
car has starting acting but I thought I'd mention that, long story short today it
started jerking tremendously when I would go accelerate or go to break and
its saying its still saying its on 4low even though I put it in 2WD, also its
showing the traction control light is still on and also saying ESP off. Im not
sure what any of this means but its really frustrating, I know im gonna have
to take it into the shop but I was wondering if anyone else experienced
anything like this with a Jeep or other car.

This is exactly what's happening to my jeep. I woke up and it says esp off, low4 is flashing even thoigh I'm in 2, and my traction light is on and my car runs like it's in low low gear. I cant get it to turn off. Did you find an answer for this?

2011 Jeep Liberty stuck in 4lo. Above reply worked. I rolled in reverse slowly, put in neutral, flip between 4Lo and 2WD about 3x and felt it transfer back to 2WD successfully. Thanks to above relys!!!
