No crank and No power what so ever.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2009 has started not cranking when I put the key in ignition randomly.  I get nothing at all....no lights, no dash instruments, no radio, no windshield wipers ...nothing... even the locks wont work.   The remote wont work either.  After slamming door, wiggling wires, taking battery out of remote....anything and everything...it will start right up. Sometimes the second key works immediately and sometimes it doesn't.  When it does start the clock is cleared but not the radio stations. And sometimes the clock will clear itself randomly.  Not a battery issue (new battery), checked all fuses, check alternator.....came across something that says might be a theft system fault or wireless control module....maybe.    Any possible ideas would and helpful and has anyone had this happen to them.   Other postings at least have the vehicles lights coming on....mine don't.   Vehicle is COMPLETELY dead when this happens.   Thanks in advance.......

Sounds like a bad ground. Disconnect battery cable where it grounds to the motor or frame and make sure the contact is tight and clean from rust or grease. A dead short is the only reason an electric door lock will not operate.

I replaced the negative battery cable. There is a break in the wire. Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't. With some playing under the hood I could get power. Once I replaced the negative cable it starts every time.
