Is my car getting too hot when idling?

Asked by Austin Apr 21, 2020 at 10:55 AM about the 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt 1LT Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I’ve replaced the radiator, thermostat and water
pump and when driving the car stays at 195deg
and when I stop and idle it warms up to 220deg. Is
that normal? Any ideas about what could be wrong
if anything? Electric fan kicks on at 220deg

1 Answer

That is hot. I would look into getting a lower temperature temp sensor to turn on the fans at a lower temp.
