Why is the car dying when the clutch is engaged?

The car dies right after it is started. When the
engine is cranked over it will idle up to 2000 RPMs
and drop down until it dies with in seconds. The
car also idles down until it dies, when the clutch is
engaged for long periods of time (for braking or
just idling).

you could test or replace the iac valve , the clutch may send a signal to the computer when engaged , scan for codes even if the light ain't on
