Why won't the back door open from the inside?

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I didn't see it in the XF forums. I just
recently purchased a 2009 XF in GREAT shape. And so far, everything is just
fine. The one minor problem....can't seem to open the rear doors from the
inside (outside is fine). Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hey Turbo 96, thanks for the quick answer. I was thinking that it was a computer thing and was looking through the touch screen to see if there was something I needed to do. Are you saying it's as simple as opening the back door and ?? (I may need to investigate as I wasn't sure where the switch you mention is)

Yes open the back door and on the door itself where the door latches to the car frame is a black/ little light switch looking thing which should say child safety lock which keeps the door from opening from the inside

I struggled to find how to unlock rear child lock also but here is what you do for the XF Luxery. Slide off the chrome cover on one of your ignition keys and you will find another key. Insert this into the small circle above the door latch and turn 1/4 turn. The slot is vertical for unlock and horizontal for lock.

Hello guys! I know this is an old thread but is still 1 of 2 in 2022! So I got my Jag XF 2017 just last week. One of the doors, the passenger's side rear door, just doesn't open from the inside no matter what I do! I've tried the physical child unlock with the car key in the door... nothing happens! I've tried to unlock tru the child unlock button I have in my driver's door, nothing happens! After reading this thread I'm gonna try: 1) The unlock button in the dash 2) playing with the 2 stage unlocking in the settings 3) Play with the drive away on/off setting Dunno what to do more. Really weird, in my case is really just one of the doors! Regards, I'll come back when I find a solution. I might have to go to Jag! Regards
