Asked by May 27, 2013 at 03:20 PM about the 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I driver seat won't recline, it kinda wants to on the side of the door, but it won't go
back. How do I fix this, I messed with it for a while and no luck.

Sounds like you have something jamming the gear pinion on the return side, that is why it went back but not forward, you will have to remove the the covers off of the seat mechanisms to gain access to the recliner rack. Might be easier to remove the seat and disassemble it on a bench.

No it does not go back or foreward, just can tell when you pull the latch that it releases on the left by the door but the right does not move.

It is possible that the tube that runs the release for the inboard side of the recliner has broke away from the ratchet plate on the outboard side but you will still need to disassemble that area to see inside the mechanism to find out for sure.

Ok, thanks, so the best way would be to take the actual seat out

Yes the best and easiest.
